New Space Marines; game one

Yesterday I got my first game in using the new Space Marine codex. It was a fun 2000 point game vs Brian and Blake and their Emperor's Children and Nurgle Plague marines. I took 2000 points of Crimson Fists lead by Pedro Kantor and Capt Cortez in terminator armor. I'm not going to give a play by play but I do want to hit on some of my first impressions after using the codex.

CotN List Final Thoughts: Assault Arrmies in 6th

Con of the North is long over, and it is time to get my final thoughts on my list and games down on paper so to speak. I went with a drop pod/spearhead style army and turned in a 3-0 performance. I was in top running but 2 daemon armies edged me out with better painting and perfect battle points.

I took a straight Space Marine list with no fortifications. I had 3 units in drop pods and a tank force to thrust into their center. Out of the 38 players at CotN, many were playing gunline infantry armies behind an aegis defence line. While this is what I planned for, how games played out were not as planned.

Post MageCon RTT Report

As Mage Con Spring comes to a close last weekend, I have a moment to look back at all the fun had, and to look forward to some very cool upcoming events. Gaming is exploding in this area with new stores, new players coming out of the woodwork, and new tournament road trips to be had. Read on for my Mage Con report and whats coming up.

First hand report from the Dark Star GT!

Bonus coverage today of the Dark Star GT that happened this last weekend! Sledge MgGee went and was nice enought to write it all up for us. Heck, he even took some pictures too! Many thanks to him for the info and hopefully we can get him to do this again some time.

Sledge MgGee here of the Frozen North gaming club in Saint Paul, MN with some coverage of the Dark Star GT in place of Inquisitor Dunn.  The event was awesome and met all my expectations.  If you guys are interested for next year get signed up early as I’m sure it will sell out quick in 2013!  The terrain was beautiful and they had a fair amount of LOS blocking stuff as well as area terrain.  The tables may have been a little short of 25%, but not by much.   Each mission had 3 objectives.  In order to win, a player had to win 2 of the 3 objectives.  Ties were settled using the usual victory point rules from the 5^th edition rule book.

Legion Games November RTT Report

Last weekend I made the 3.5 hour drive up to Minneapolis, MN for a local rtt at Legion Games. It was a 2000 point 3 game rtt with about 17-18 people. I took my wide and kids up with me, as the plan was for then to drive the couple blocks over to my sister's house to spend the day playing with their cousins. this Saturday of gaming went nothing like it was planned too........

Sisters of Battle: First Blood





This last Sunday I headed over to a friends house for a couple games of 40k. I really wanted to try out the SoB codex and he wanted to play against it too. We also decided to use the new battle missions for the SoB out of the dreadfleet WD.

Ok I finally got this written. I spent yesterday in bed fighting of some kind of bug. I guess that's what you get after handling pictures of zombies!

Friday Night battle summary..

It's been 12 or so hours since my game last night at Zach's house, and I thought I would jot down some thoughts on my army and how it all went down.

Bugeater GT 2011; Game 2 VS NIDS

Game 2 I found myself facing off against a Tyranid army played by Jamie Tigges. I have not played alot of games vs tyranids, so I made alot of mistakes. I will keep this short as there is not alot to be learned from my game...

Bugeater GT 2011 coverage: Game 1 VS Tau

My first game at the Bugeater Gt 2011 was against Alex Farrell. Alex was playing Tau. I have a tough time with Tau because I have trouble getting across the board. This stems from my split personality army, which I will explain in a later article.

Battle Report; Orks VS Crimson Fists 1850

Sunday I was lucky enough to make the trip up to Dark Matter Anime to try my 1850 Bugeater list out against Lloyd. Quick couple things about the trip up. The store was nice and their main tables in the back were really nice. They are a little cramped for space in that they have alot of different little rooms. Overall though it is a very nice place to play and if I lived up there, I would have no problem making it my hang out store. This was a good trip in that my wife could do some shopping while I game, and then we went out for a nice a supper at Lone Star (+1 marital capital).
