Librarians, don't leave home without them.

Games workshop image.
The other day I was thinking about my list for the Bugeater GT. One think keeps nagging me about it, no psychic defense. So what would it take to add a Librarian and what would I loose/gain. I would have to drop both Speeders. I could add a 100 point librarian and 1 HB attack bike.

I would loose some mobility in the speeders and a MM shot, HF shot and 1 HB. I would gain a psychic hood and NULL ZONE. Null zone alone might be worth the trade. It will help my Hammertime unit take on the mirror match and make it so much easier vs daemons.

I hate the fact that I almost have both speeders completed and I'm not going to use them, let alone the fact that I'm adding another model to paint and convert up. Now is the time to decide with more than 3 months out.

New list looks like...

Pedro Kantor

Librarian- null zone, avenger

10 man tactical squad- Melta gun, missile launcher
razorback
Sarg- powerfist

10 man tactical squad- Melta gun, missile launcher
razorback
Sarg- powerfist

Ironclad Dreadnought
Drop pod

Assault Terminators- 3 lightning claws, 2 thunderhammer

10 sternguard- 2 combi meltas, 2 meltas
razorback
Sarg- lightning claw

Attack bike- heavy bolter
Predator- lascannon sides

Predator- lascannon sides

Predator- lascannon sides

Whatcha think.

  1. I would think about dropping one of the Predators and keeping the speeders.

  2. Why?

I would loose 2 lascannons and an autocannon and only gain 1 MM, 1 HF, and 2 HB. Also I loose one armour 13 tank and only gain 2 armour 10 vehicles.

What do you think the change would bring to the table? How does it help my list?

  3. I would drop the Assault Terminators, Attack Bike, and one of the Spam Predators and add more troops.

Terminators are good if you run a unit of eight to ten, but small units are fairly easy to kill.

The Attack Bike is just an easy kill point.
The Predators are ok, but three of them armed the same way are somewhat boring and not very flexible. If you want to run or all ready own three predators, I would run this type of armaments AC/LC, AC/HB/SB, and TWLC/LC. The different variations give you more flexibility and are more fun to play for you and your opponent; which means you can play this army in a RT scoring format also.

I would also add more troops to your army. Troops are the key element to the new addition. If I played a space marine army I would run a minimum of four to five troop choices every game; one of them would be an eight to ten man Scout squad with sniper rifles, heavy weapon, and cameo cloaks. I would also run Las-cannon, Multi-Meltas, and Plasma-Cannons in my Tactical squads. I know Missile Launchers are free, but there not really effective to a horde player’s army. Honestly, a good horde player’s army would wipe your list out.

Land speeders are up to you. They are somewhat easy kill points, but they can deep strike and have mobility.

I would always take a Librarian, but marine players never seem to listen. I know that when I play against Dennis and his Blood Angels it took him about 2 weeks to figure out how annoying they are for armies with psykers in them.

    Anyways, that’s my 2 cents.

  4. If I combat squad out, I have 6 scoring units. More than enough at 1850.

  5. I could wipe them out in four turns or less ussually; and I run a balanced build with a BS of three so a shooty army could do it even faster. Especially if you dont have cover saves.

  6. LOL.. Lots of talk. What are you running nowadays thats so awesome it wipes 35 marines off the board in 3 turns? I would love to get in a practice game sometime before Bugeater.

  7. So you first stated a horde army would wipe out my list. Then it was a shooty army. Waiting to hear about the asssualt army for the trifecta!!!

  8. I said four turns or less and it’s only 30 marines not 35, termies don’t count, that’s 7.5 Marines a turn.Anyways from your last few tournaments it seems every army wipes you out, jk!

At least now you’re playing Marines which will make it a lot easier to win.

I run four different builds which are not internet builds, each build has five to six troop choices in them, and yes I can kill around 30 marines in about four turns or less. Besides you only have to kill the Marines that are holding objectives, the rest you kill later.

Are you hoping to finish your Marines for the GT, or are you going to play S.O.B?

  9. I'm on a huge painting kick to finish the Fists for the Bugeater GT. I have a SoB list made up but no plans to run them. Last warstore order goes out Monday and Forgeword order goes out Friday. Also building up to 2500 for ardboys at the end of summer.
